Request to End Tenancy

If you would like to end your tenancy with Bridge Housing, please complete this form and we will be in contact with you. 

You need to provide Bridge Housing 21 days notice or 14 days notice if you’re currently on a fixed term lease unless you are escaping domestic violence. The keys must be handed back to the office by midday on the date of possession, otherwise you will continue to be charged rent.

Please ensure the house has been cleaned and cleared of all belongings and rubbish. You will be charged for any damage, rubbish removal or cleaning required for your property if it is not left in a reasonable state.

This is the date you will return your keys and end your tenancy. You must remove all items from your property, and return it clean and undamaged. Notice periods are 21 days for a periodic tenancy and 14 days for a fixed term tenancy. Please call us on 8324 0800 if you require an earlier possession date.

Notice and Declaration

Under the Housing Act 2010 a fine up to $2,200 and/or three months imprisonment applies for making a false statement or representation. Bridge Housing may refuse further assistance or prosecute anyone who wilfully makes any false statements as a result of which they obtain accommodation or other financial benefit of any kind.

In order to end your tenancy, you must agree to undertake the following actions:

  1. Pay any outstanding charges for which I am liable, including rent arrears and unpaid water and repairs charges.

  2. Cancel my Centrelink or direct debit payments to Bridge Housing.

  3. Cancel my electricity, gas, internet and cable TV contracts (where applicable).

  4. Leave the premises in the same condition as at the start of the tenancy, fair wear and tear excepted. I understand I will be charged for any damage.

  5. Clean the property and remove my belongings and rubbish. I will be charged for any cleaning required including the removal of any items left behind.Any items left behind will be deemed unwanted goods and disposed of in accordance with the Uncollected Goods Act 1995.

  6. Return the keys to Bridge Housing by 12pm on the specified date.

  7. Provide Bridge Housing with a forwarding address and contact details for such things as returning the bond and forwarding invoices for cleaning, unwanted goods disposal and damages  (where applicable)

  • I understand that by ending my Bridge Housing tenancy, in order to be considered for another social housing property in NSW I will need to apply through the Housing Pathways system and the relevant Bridge Housing process for Affordable Housing programs.

  • I have read and agree with the above list of my responsibilities when ending my tenancy.

  • I understand that I need to give the required notice to end my tenancy and will be charged rent until this date.

  • I understand that if I do not return the keys to Bridge Housing by this date I will continue to be charged rent until keys are obtained.

  • I understand the instructions given on this declaration form.

  • To the best of my knowledge, the information provided in this form is correct.

  • I understand there are penalties for giving false or misleading information.
